In 1575 Thomas Taylor was bequeathed £5 in his father's Will.

In January 1603 Thomas Tayler of Battle was a witness to the Will of his brother Richard Taylor of Heathfield.

On 25 Jun 1605 Thomas Tayler of Battle, shoemaker, conveyed to Christopher Jury of Battle, shoemaker, and his wife Susannah*, a messuage, toft, garden and orchard in Middleborough, Battle, lately purchased by Thomas Tayler from William Faierman of Benenden in Kent, clothier, to the use of Christopher Jury for life, remainder to Susannah Jury, remainder to Christopher Jury's heirs; dower of Thomas Tayler's wife Silvester excepted from warranty. 3

Abstract of the Will of Thomas Tayler of the Exempt Jurisdiction of Battell in the County of Sussex, Yeoman, written 26 Nov 1626, proved 7 May 1634. 5

Gives 40 shillings to the poor and aged people of Battle.

Gives 20 shillings to his kinsman John Tayler one of the king's guards.

Gives 20 shillings to his kinswoman Barbara Allen wife of Robert Allen of Sevenoaks in county of Kent or elsewhere.

Gives £10 to his kinsman Noah Tayler of Heathfield in the county of Sussex, shoemaker.

Gives £10 to his kinsman Raynald Tayler one of the sons of his brother Robert.

Gives £5 to his kinswoman Mary Knight one of the daughters of his brother Robert Tayler.

Gives £5 to his kinswoman Elizabeth Bryant another daughter of his brother Robert Tayler.

Gives £5 to his kinswoman Margaret Tyherst one of the daughters of his brother Richard Tayler.

Appoints his kinsman John Tayler of Heathfield youngest son of his brother James Tayler deceased sole executor of his last will and testament, and to whom he gives all the residue of his goods, chattels &c. Thomas also gives and bequeaths to John his freehold and copyhold messuages, lands and tenements in the parish of Battle, as well as those lands and tenements he purchased from George Bourner of Battle. Additionally he gives and bequeaths to the said John his lands and tenements in Bexhill in the county of Sussex.

Nominates his friend George Cole of Battle as overseer and supervisor of his last will and testament, and gives him 40 shillings for his efforts.

Gives and bequeaths to his kinsman Thomas Tayler of Heathfield, yeoman, one of the sons of his brother John Tayler, all his lands, messuages, tenements and woods within the parish of Heathfield in the county of Sussex which he purchased of Nicholas Panckherst of Heathfield.

Witnesses: Alexander Leonard, Thomas Sharp, Richard Benden, George Cole.

  Marriage Information:

Thomas married Silvester Taylor on or shortly after 21 May 1594.

Thomas Tayler of Battell, shoemaker, and Silvester Tayler of the same, virgin: sureties, the said Thomas Tayler and Thomas Stalenorthe of Breade, yeoman. Marriage licence issued 21 May 1594. 1
