With them were children (born in Brighton): John (6), Herbert (4), Emily (4 months).
In the 1939 Register Isaac J Dench (b. 18 Mar 1868), teacher of violin, and wife Alice M Dench (b. 26 Dec 1877), unpaid domestic duties, were living at 51 Shaftesbury Road, Brighton Sussex. At the same address was [daughter] Emily N Dench (b. 27 Nov 1910), single, saleswoman clothing.
