26 Feb. 1494. Alexander Payntor de parisshe of Horsmonden. To be buried in the parissh chirch yard of Saint Margaretts in Horsmonden. To the newe renewyng of the herselight 6/8 and that be renewed by my monthis day. To the light afore the high crosse 12d. I bequeth to a booke or a chalice or a nother ornament moost behofull unto the said chirch xls; and that to be ordeyned and bought by my yeris mynde. To Sir Wm Spynke to pray for my soule 6/8.
   To Alexdandre Payntor sonne of Wm Payntor, Alexandre Totye the sonne of Robt Totye, Alexandre Edemede the sonne of Robt Eademede, Alexandre Cheseman the sonne of Wm Cheseman to everyiche of theym a cowe and to everich of myne other godchildern 4d.
   To Margaret my doughter whenne she comith to hir mariage or within a yere aftre £10. To Johanne my doughter 10 marc [do].
   To a prest seculer honest and well disposid to singe and to rede for the helth of my soule in the parissh chirch of Horsmonden a hoole yer X marc. To the mendyng of a way noyusse by twene Brodefords brigge and Capell cross xls.
   To Johane my wife all myne instuffe brasse peauter and bedding. To John Shenefeld of Brenchesle a gowne. To Agnes Totye my doughter a cawdern of the mesure of 12 galons by estimacon. To Alexander Totye the sonne of Robt Totye when 22 40s.
   I will that myne extours shall bye every yere duryng the terme of iij yeres every yere a Cade of Red hering and a barell of white hering to be bestowid in lente durying the said terme amonge power peple of the said parissh that is for to say uppon Friday and Sonday in Lent.
To Johanne my wif 13/4 and a cowe of the color of red. To Stephen Cloute 6/8. Residue to Wm Payntor and John Payntor my sonnes.
   This is – of alle my landes and tenements etc. First I will that Johanne my wife have during alle hir lief alle suche landes etc. as she is indued in except that that is undrewretin assigned to Wm Payntor and John Payntor my sonnes. I will the said Johanne shall yerely resceive xls tylle the sume of £24 be paied of suche landes as I late have sold in the parisshe of Tysehurst to oone George Kyngislonde. Yf the saied Johan or anyother in hir name trowble with myn extours contrary this my last wil thenne the seid Johanne no part to have of the said £24.
   I will my feoffees shall deliver unto Wm Payntor my sonne a state fee simple of certayn parcellis of lond called Bruers and Hawkyns late purchased of Herry atte Hoope conteynyng by estimacon 16 acres. Also of ij pecis of land in ?Horsmonden called Marsshes late purchased of John Baldok of ?Horsmonden. Also of ij strakys of lond in ?Hosrmonden late purchased of James Godard (2 acres) the which ij straks boundeth from the corner of an hegge of oon Jamys Bratill downe to a broke there provided the said Wm Payntor my sonne shall suffre the occupiers of my mansion that I nowe dwelle in at alle tymes to have a reasonable foote path downe to a well over the londe of the said Wm Payntor my sonne.
   I will my feoffers shall make state fee simple jointly unto Wm Payntor and John Payntor my sonnes of and in my Dyhows and everyiche of them to be charged with like repacons. And the said Wm my sonne to have a resonable way atte all tymes to carye bere and dryve out from the King’s high strete ther comyng in atte a gate called Mylfeld gate downe to the said Dyhouse as the said way of Newe made hath been used.
   I will after my deth and my wifs deth my feoffees shall deliver unto John Payntor my sonne a state fee simple of alle suche londes etc. as my said wife is nowe by me endued in. My feoffees shall deliver unto John Payntor my sonne an estate fesimple of certeyn parcellis of londe called Wychindens and also of a pece of londe called Milfeld late purchased of James Godard and a litill parcell of lond called the Ryde late purchased of John Hertford forthwith a way resonable to lede etc. at alle tymes over the lond of the said Wm Payntor unto the saide lond called the Ryde Wher as it may lest hurt the said Wm Payntor. I will the said John pay to Johanne my wif a yere and a day after my deth xx marc that thenne my feoffees shall make state unto said John of and in a pece of lond late purchased of Wm Richard and a gardyn called Belsives gardyn and a pece of londe late purchased of Stephen Smyth in ?Horsmonden. If he pay not the said xx marc then the said Johanne to have the said peces of lond.
   I will my feoffees shall suffre my exours to selle certeyn parcellis of lond lying in ?Horsmonden late purchased of John Rogers also alle those lands late purchased of Henry Menge and John Wylmysherst also alle the landes that late were Thos Hykmote of Elay. Also ij peces late Thos Clerks and also a pece late purchased of Wm Gartford and a tenement lying in Lambherst late purchased of Nicholas Wylsham. Also a nother hows and a garden lying in Lambherst strete late purchased of John Fowle and also a pece of lond late purchased of Rychard Ongle and certeyn parcellis of londe late purchased of Jamys Downer with a pece in Ealding late purchased of Wm Colte and a pece in Ealding late purchased of Richard Wychynden and iij pecis in Merden late purchased of Wm Colte and Thos Hasill. And the money comyng to be paied unto the hands of my said ----- and part to the mariages of my doughters and to pay my detts and my bequestis and residue in dedis of charite.
   I will my extours shall resceive of George Withynden the money I have lent to the said George uppon the messuage that he nowe dwellith in atte Horsmonden hoth and the money I will my exours shall bye therwith a purchase of the same valur and that I will that Robart ?Toty and Agnes his wife shall have hit alle the terme of bothe ther lyvys the reversion to the issue of their bodyes.
   Wit. John Shenefeld, Thos John, Robert Edmede, John Hertford and Xtofer Lodynden, Jamys Gratill and other ?moo.
   Probate 21 May 1495 by Wm Payntor with reserved power to other exor.
