Máel Sechnaill, rí Midi, Ard-rí na h'Éireann, was the 13th greatgrandson of Conall Cremhtoinn, the son of Niall of the Nine Hostages, whose line was the Kings of Meath until 1173AD.. They were known as the Clann Colmain and their chieftains took the name O'Maelsechlainn, anglicised to O'Melaghlin and later McLoughlin.
