In 1871, Alfred Cousins, age 18, agricultural labourer, was living in Utterby, Lincolnshire. Note that, at the time of this Census, Alfred's older brother, William Cousins, age 25, unmarried, also born in Norfolk was working as a groom, and living nearby in Utterby.
In 1881, Alfred Cussons, age 28, groom, domestic servant, and wife Annie, age 28, were living in Sausthorpe, Lincolnshire. Present were children Betsy A. (7), scholar, Alfred (5), scholar, Sarah E. (3), scholar, and Emanuel (1)
In 1891, Alfred Cousins, age 39, domestic groom, and wife Ann, age 39, were living in Sausthorpe, Lincolnshire. Present were children: Sarah (13), scholar, Emmanuel (11), scholar, Florence (8), scholar, John W. (6), scholar, Daniel (3), Mark (1).

DRUNKENNESS.—Frank Wilman, of Mumby, was fined 10s. and 4s. 6d. costs for being drunk and disorderly at Hogsthorpe on Dec. 4th.... For a like offence at Willoughby on the same date Alfred Cousins, of Sloothby, was fined 2s. 6d. and 3s. costs...
