In 1841, James Lingard, aged about 40 [sic], agricultural labourer, and wife Elizabeth, aged about 50, were living in Fotherby, Lincolnshire. Present were children: Dinah (20), Charles (15), Mary (12), Jane (9). James's uncle George Lingard (60), ag. lab., and his family, were living nearby.
In 1851, James Lingard, age 53, rat catcher, and [second] wife Elizabeth, age 23?, were living in Fotherby, Lincolnshire. Present were children: Charles (24), rat catcher, Betsy (10 months)
In 1861, James Lingard, age 63, rat catcher, and Elizabeth Elizabeth, age 40, were living in Fotherby, Lincolnshire. With them were children (born in Fotherby): Betsey Sarah (11), Anna Maria (8), Dinah (4), John William (1).
