The Chronicle of Adémar de Chabannes names "Willelmi cognomento Sectoris ferri" as son of "Alduinus".
He succeeded his father in 916 as Comte d'Angoulême. The Chronicle of Adémar de Chabannes records that Guillaume II Duke of Aquitaine granted "vicecomitatum Mellensem et Oenacensem et Rocacardensem honoremque Cabannensem et Confolentis, Roffiacum" to Guillaume [II] Comte d’Angoulême, presumably dated to the 940s. "Guillelmus comes" donated property to the abbey of Saint-Cybard by charter dated after 942, subscribed by "Domni Guillelmi comitis et monachi, Bernardi comitis, Arnaldi filii sui, comitis, Odolrici vice comitis, Ademari vicecomitis…Ademari comitis filii Guillelmi".
The Chronicle of Adémar de Chabannes records that the testament of "Willelmus Sector ferri", presumably dated to [945], was signed by "Bernardus comes, Arnoldus filius Bernardi, Odolricus vicecomes, Adhemarus vicecomes, Arnaldus filius Willelmi, Adhemarus filius Willelmi". The Chronicle of Adémar de Chabannes records that "Willelmus…Sector ferri" was buried "iuxta basilicam Sancti Eparchii". 2
