Dafydd ap Cadwgan of Llynwent 1 2 3

  • Born: Llynwent, Llanbister, Radnorshire, Wales
  • Married:

  General Notes:

17/18 x great grandfather

  Research Notes:

"The continuous occupation of some homesteads by the same families over long periods cannot be doubted. Llinwent...does seem to illustrate this continuity and also the way in which a family can emerge from the historical shadows in the fifteenth century at the time when the earliest surviving durable hall-houses were being built. The family were probably settled at Llinwent ca. 1400 when the farm of the meadow at Llinwent was granted to Dafydd Llwyd ap Dafydd ap Cadwgan... In every succeeding generation of Dafydd's family until the end of the sixteenth century praise-poems or elegies relating to Llinwent have survived." 4

  Marriage Information:

Dafydd married Angharad ferch Llywelyn, daughter of Llywelyn ap Herast.
