Adeliza DE CLARE of Tonbridge
- Born: 1117, Tunbridge, Kent, England
- Married:
- Died: 1162
Research Notes:
“Mathildis de Percy comitissa de Warwic, filia Willielmi de Perci” donated property to Sawley abbey, for the souls of “…patris mei Willielmi de Percy et Adalidis de Tunbrige matris meæ…”, by undated charter. The reference to Tonbridge suggests that she may have been a member of the Clare family. If this is correct, the chronology suggests that she would have been the daughter of Richard FitzGilbert. “Willielmus de Percy” donated property to Sawley abbey, with the consent of “Adelidæ uxoris meæ et Alani hæredis mei”, by undated charter, witnessed by “…Roberto de Percy…”. 1
Marriage Information:
Adeliza married William DE PERCY, son of Alan DE PERCY, Baron Percy, and Emma DE GAND. (William DE PERCY died in 1174 in Sallay, Craven, Yorkshire, England.)
