Gisèle DE LUXEMBOURG, Lady of Aalst
- Born: Flanders, Belgium
- Married:
- Died: 21 May, after 1058
- Buried: Chapel of St Lawrence, Ghent, Flanders, Belgium
Research Notes:
Du Chesne states that Gisela was buried in the same chapel as Ogive Ctss of Flanders and concludes that she was "seur de ladite Odgive" but cites no primary source which confirms the family relationship. The primary source which confirms her parentage has not been identified. Du Chesne does not mention her marriage. Her marriage is indicated by the charter dated 1056 under which Baudouin V Count of Flanders approved the donation made by "matrona Gisla" of "Ronneka" to the abbey of Saint-Pierre de Gand, signed by "Balduini de Warnastum, Hugonis de Oldenaerde, Roberti et Wenemari de Lens, Balduini filii ipsius Gisle, item filiorum eius Rodulphi, Gisleberti…". "Gisla" granted a serf to the abbey of Saint-Pierre de Gand by charter dated Apr 1058, signed by "Balduuini filii ipsius Gislæ, item filiorum eius Rodulfi, Gisleberti…". The Memorial of "femina Gisla" records her death "Iunii XII ante Kal". 1
