  Research Notes:

Contrary to the information provided by George in the marriage record, he was son of Sarah Wallis of Baldock, spinster (baptismal record). As shown, George's surname is spelled 'Wallis' in the baptismal register as well as in the GROE birth index. The same spelling is found in the 1861 England Census at which time George was with his grandparents Richard & Sarah Wallis. Thereafter his surname is spelled 'Wallace.'

At the time of the 1871 England Census George Wallace, age 11, born in Baldock Herts, scholar, was with his grandparents Richard & Sarah Wallace in Park St., Baldock Hertfordshire.

At the time of the 1881 England Census George Wallace, age 20, born in Baldock Herts, unmarried, wheelwright, was boarding in Pembroke Rd., Baldock Hertfordshire.

At the time of the 1891 England Census George Wallace, age 30, born in Baldock Herts, coach builder, and wife Francis M A Wallace, age 28, born in Holland - British subject, were living in Norfolk Road, Aspeden, Hertfordshire. With them were sons George A W (7) of Bishops Stortford Herts, William (4) of Buntingford Herts and Arthur B (1) of Aspeden Herts. Lodging was [Frances's maternal grandfather] Joseph B Heasman (75) of Lewes, widower, currier.

At the time of the 1901 England Census George Wallace, age 42, born in Buntingford, wheelwright (own account), was boarding in the White Swan, Ware Urban, Hertfordshire. His wife and children were in Norfolk Road, Aspeden, Hertfordshire.

At the time of the 1911 England Census George Wallace, age 50, born in Baldock Herts., coach builder, and wife of 28 years Frances Mary Ann Wallace, age 47, born in Dordrecht Holland (mother of 8 children, 1 deceased), were living at 47 Bowling Road, Ware, Herts. With them were children (all single): George Alfred William (27) of Bsps Stortford Herts, Catharine Gertrude Francis (crossed out), house painter, and born in Buntingford Herts.: William Alfred (24), coach painter, Arthur Benjamin (21), coach painter, Edward (18), printer's apprentice, Alfred Hemre (16), grocer's apprentice, and Percy Ernest (11), school.
