Possibly the same person as Robert FitzWalter of Caen who married, as his second wife, Avelina de Hesdin (widow of Alain Fitz Flaald) and therefore father of Simon de Chesney.
A manuscript describing the foundation of Horsham priory, Norfolk records that “in the time of King Henry I, the sixth year of his raigne...Robert Fitzwalter and Sibill his wife” founded the priory. “Robertus Walteri filius et uxor mea...Sibilla” founded Horsham priory, with the consent of “Rogero et cæteris filiis meis”, by undated charter which lists the priory’s properties. 1
