The Chronicle of the Princes of Wales records that "Rhys the Hoarse was captured at Llanarthneu by his son Rhys the little, and for the castle of Llanymddyvri was liberated" in 1227.

Lord of Dinefwr. The Chronicle of the Princes of Wales records that "Rhys Mechyll son of Rhys the Hoarse, son of the lord Rhys" died in 1244. 2

Rhys Mechyll was a Welsh prince of the House of Dinefwr, ruler of part of the kingdom of Deheubarth in southern Wales from 1234 to 1244. 3

  Marriage Information:

Rhys married Matilda de Braose, daughter of Reginald de Braose, Lord of Brecon, 13th Baron Abergavenny and Grace (Grecia) de Briwere, before 1219. (Matilda de Braose was born about 1200 in Brecon, Breconshire, Wales.)
