However, Prieto suggests that he was “comitis Munionis de Somiedo” who is named in an undated charter at Corias as father of Jimena Muñoz.... [The] hypothesis of this co-identity appears supported by the possible existence of Fernando Muñoz as a son of Munio Fernández... According to Carlé, Munio Fernández may have been the son of Fernando Díaz & his wife Mansuara Fáfilaz, marrying Jimena as his first wife. A charter dated to the 10th century records property of "Monio Fernandiz et de domna Scemena" which "domna Scemena" gave "in casamento ad sua filia domna Uraka". Gonzalo Vermúdez, Munio Fernández and Pelayo Rodríguez led one of the most successful rebellions against King Vermudo II, which succeeded in expelling the king from León, dated to between Nov 991 and Sep 992. 1
