The Annales Cambriæ record that "Iudgual filius Rodri et filius eius Elized" were killed by the Saxons in 943. The Chronicle of the Princes of Wales records that "Idwal son of Rhodri, and his brother Elised were killed by the Saxons" in 941. It is not clear from these passages whether Elissed was the brother or son of Idwal, and whether the Idwal in question was Idwal "Foel/the Bald", son of Anarawd ap Rhodri King of Gwynedd... or Idwal son of King Rhodri. 1
