At the time of the 1901 England Census Joseph H Mockett, age 22, born in Firle Sussex, journeyman gardener, was in the Garden Bothy, Ashtead Park, Ashtead, Surrey.
In Apr 1904 Joseph Henry Mockett was present at the marriage of his sister Emily Grace Mockett to Albert Edward Haffenden in Southover Sussex.
At the time of the 1911 England Census Joseph Henry Mockett, age 32, born in Firle Sussex, single, domestic gardener, was boarding at Pearsons Terrace, Paddock Wood, Brenchley Kent.
In Mar 1933 Joseph Henry Mockett, florist, was granted Administration of the personal effects of his late wife Ada Mockett of Meadhurst Villas in Paddock Wood.
In the 1939 Register Joseph H Mockett (b. 7 Nov 1878), widowed, traveller for agricultural engineers & iron mongers, was living in Meadhurst Villas Maidstone Road, Paddock Wood, Kent. At the same address were [children, both single] Henry J Mockett (b. 27 Oct 1913), store keeper to motor vehicle distributors, Gladys F Mockett (b. 25 Dec 1915), unpaid domestic duties, book keeper at present.

Mr. J. H. Mockett
Mr. Joseph Henry Mockett, who died, aged 73, on Sunday, had lived in Tonbridge for the past 13 years. As a nurseryman he had worked in Scotland and Switzerland.
A Sussex man, Lewes-born, Mr. Mockett left nursery work to become associated with the early experimental work on the development of insecticides. He spent 25 years at Paddock Wood and became well known among local farmers.
Mr. Mockett lived at 42 Goldsmid Road, Tonbridge. During his stay in the town, he was a familiar figure at the Constitutional Club. The funeral today takes place at Paddock Wood Parish Church. One son and a daughter survive.
