  Research Notes:

Of Booton, Skeyton, Crostweyth, Fransham and Rougham, Norfolk, illegitimate son by his father's mistress, Maud de Nerford. In 1346 he was serving in France in the retinue of his brother, William de Warenne; his father the Earl requested the Chancellor that he be discharged from the demand to find a man-at-arms for his lands in Norfolk. He was a legatee in the 1347 will of his father. 3

The testament of "Johan Counte de Warenne de Surrey et de Strathorne Seigneur de Bromfeld et de Yal" is dated 24 Jun 1347 and makes bequests to "…Monsieur William de Warenne mon filz…ma fille sa compaigne…Edward de Warenne mon filz…Johanne de Basyngg ma fille…Katerine ma fille…Isabell ma fille Noneyn de Sempyngham…William de Warenne mon fil…Isabelle de Holand ma compaigne". Founder of the WARENN family of Poynton. 4

Edward married Cecily DE ETON, daughter of Nicholas DE ETON of Ratley, Knt. and Joan DE STOKEPORT, before 1344. (Cecily DE ETON died between 1352 and 1369.)
