Another name for Brude was Bruide MAC MAELCON.
General Notes:
He assisted by his half-brother Rhun Hir of Gwynedd in securing the Pictish throne, by election, and replacing his 2nd cousin, Galam II, in 556. He curbed the expansion of Gabhran of Dál Riata, forcing the Scot back into his core territories, in 558.
He was baptised by St. Columba of Iona in the eigth (or ninth) year of his reign in 565.
He fought a series of skirmishes with the Scots under King Aedan mac Gabhran, and generally lost the advantage, between 580 and 584.
