David was a skinner by trade and appears to have died in Surrey, where his two eldest sons, Lewis (a licensed victualler) and Humphrey (a skinner & leather dresser) also lived and raised families. David was buried in Bermondsey, Surrey; his son Humphrey was living in Bermondsey from at least 1827 until the time of the 1851 Census. David's widow, Martha, may have spent time in Surrey with her husband; however, if she did she had returned to Dolgelley in Merionethshire, Wales by 1841 where David's & Martha's son Owen (also a skinner) and daughter Anne were living, both unmarried.
