In Apr 1820 Thomas Stephens and his wife Lucy Stephens were present at the marriage of Thomas's brother James Stephens to Hannah Pearce in Selmeston Sussex.
At the time of the 1851 England Census Thomas Stevens, age 53, born in Firle Sussex, licensed victualler, and wife Sophia, age 54, born in Bletchingly Surrey, were living in Drovers Inn, Selsden Lane, Croydon Surrey. With them was niece Elizabeth Letts* (20) of Warlingham Surrey.
* Elizabeth Letts, b. 2 Mar 1831, chr. 27 Mar 1831 in Warlingham Surrey, daughter of James Letts and Sarah Burnell who were married in Croydon on 24 Dec 1826. One of the witnesses to the marriage was Sophia Jefferson; Sophia Burnell married William Jefferson in 1826 in Southwark Surrey, such that, based on the above, Elizabeth Letts was Sophia's niece.
In 1855 Thomas Stephens was a residuary legatee of his father's Will.
At the time of the 1861 England Census Thomas Stevens, age 64, born in Firles Sussex, widower, licensed victualler, was living in Drovers Inn, Croydon Surrey. With him was niece Elizabeth Letts (30) of Warlingham, housekeeper.
At the time of the 1871 England Census Thomas Stevens, age 74, born in Firle Sussex, widower, retired, was with his niece Elizabeth Hayward (40) of Warlingham and her family in Haling Road, Croydon Surrey.
