He raided the North East as far as Stainmore, Teesdale in 971.
He was defeated by Uhtred, son of the elderly Earl of Bamburgh, after his attack on the North East after claiming the region as part of Scotland and taking advantage of the turmoil caused by the Viking attacks on England in 995.
