This Hugh was at the Parliament of Oxford in 1258. He was one of the 12 elected by the barons to redress grievances and treat with the council of King Henry III. Appointed Justiciar of England 1260. Attended Montfort's Parliament of 1263. Was at the battle of Lewes 1264. In 1265 he was appointed an arbiter between the Earls of Leicester [Simon de Montfort] and Gloucester [Gilbert de Clare]. He was prominent in the rebellion against King Henry III and died alongside Simon de Montfort at the Battle of Eversham in 1265. 1
