At the time of the 1841 Census Mary Gibson, aged about 45, and husband James Gibson, aged about 45, were living in Kirkford Stewarton. Present were children Janet (19) Hugh (17) Mary (15) Lilias (13) Isabella (10) Jean (8) and Margaret (4).

At the time of the 1851 Scotland Census Mary Gibson, aged 57, widow, was living in Kirkford Stewarton. Present were children Hugh (27) Mary (24) Lilias (23) Jane (17) Margaret (13) and Elisabeth (10).

At the time of the 1861 Scotland Census Mary Gibson, aged 67, widow, bonnet liner, was living in Kirkford Stewarton. Present were children Hugh (35) Margaret (22) and Elizabeth (19).
