Anna ALUSIANE of Bulgaria
- Born: Abt 1030, Bulgaria
- Married: Between 1045 and 1050
- Died: Before 1065
Research Notes:
Her parentage and marriage are deduced from Skylitzes who names "bestarches Samuel Aluisianus Bulgarus, imperatoris uxoris frater", although it is curious to note that she is still referred to as "imperatoris uxoris" in a passage which refers to events after her husband’s accession and second marriage and therefore after her death. It should be noted that an alternative interpretation is that the passage refers to the wife of Samuil. The date of her marriage is estimated from the couple's son Konstantinos Diogenes leaving two known children when he was killed in battle in 1074. 1
Marriage Information:
Anna married Romanos IV DIOGENES, Emperor of Byzantium, son of Konstantinos DIOGENES, Katepan of Thessaloniki, and Unnamed ARGYRE, between 1045 and 1050. (Romanos IV DIOGENES died in Summer 1072 in Prote Monastery, Isle of Prote, Byzantium.)
