In 1901 Susan Emily Leach, aged 31, born in Cookham Berks, and husband James Leach, aged 33, born in Derby, cotton warp sorter's carter, were living at 1 Back South Street, Bacup Lancashire. With them were children James Cecil (7) of Manchester, Rosie Emily (4) of Bacup Lancs, and William Hy (2) of Bacup.

In 1911 Emily Leech, aged 42, born in Cookham Berks (mother of 7 children, 1 deceased), and husband of 21 years James Leech, aged 45, born in Derby, carter, were living at 1 Greaves St., Bacup Lancashire. With them were children James (17) of Manchester, cotton mill hand, and born in Bacup Rosie (14), cotton mill hand, Willie (12), school part-time, Lily (9), school, Frederick (6), school, and Edwin (1).

In the 1939 Register Susan E Leech (b. 23 May 1869*), widowed, unpaid domestic duties, was at 9 Bankside, Bacup, Lancashire. At the same address was [son] Charles J Leech (b. 4 Jun 1893), married, leather cloth labourer.
