In 1851 James Eva, aged 38, born in Camborne Cornwall, blacksmith, and (second) wife Mary Eva, aged 31, born in Cardinham Cornwall, were living in Wenmouth Cross, St. Neot, Cornwall. With them were James's daughter Grace (10) of Camborne, visitor* Grace Williams (50) of Gwinear, miner's wife.

In 1852 James Eva was a beneficiary of his father's will.

In 1861 James Eva, aged 50, born in Camborne, mine blacksmith and farmer of 3 acres, and wife Mary Eva, aged 41, born in Cardinham, were living in Berry Down, St. Neot. With them were children (born in St. Neot) John (2), Rebecca (8), Catherine (6) and Elizabeth (4).

In 1871 James Eva, aged 60, born in Camborne, farmer of 26 acres, and wife Mary Eva, aged 50, born in St. Neot, were living in Berry Down, St. Neot. With them were children (born in St. Neot) Elizabeth (14), scholar, and John (12), scholar.

In 1881 James Eva, aged 70, farmer of 5 acres, and wife Marey Eva, aged 60, born in Warlegon Cornwall, were living in Berry Down, St. Neot.

The Will of James Eva late of the parish of St. Neot in the county of Cornwall, blacksmith, who died 12 June 1885 at St. Neot, was proved 27 August at Bodmin by Samuel Doney of Dreynes in St. Neot, miner, the sole executor. Personal estate £549. 4

James married Thomasine Vivian, daughter of John Vivian and Catherine Dingle, on 26 Oct 1838 in Registry Office, Redruth, Cornwall. (Thomasine Vivian was christened on 20 Feb 1817 in Camborne, Cornwall and died on 10 Jul 1850 in Cross, St. Neot, Cornwall.)
