Abstract of the Will of John Pender Paynter, Commander in the Royal Navy, written 9 Jan 1855, proved 13 Oct 1856. 4
Gives all his lands, tenements, personal estate and effects to Thomas Whitford of St. Columb, banker, and Henry Whitford of the same place, gentleman, in trust, for the benefit of his natural daughter Mary Phillips Curtis commonly called Mary Phillips Paynter, during her minority. Once she turns twenty-one she is to inherit his real and personal estate.
Appoints the said Thomas Whitford and Henry Whitford co-executors of his last will and testament.

In a codicil dated 10 Mar 1856 he gives £100 to his servant Jane Retallick.
