In 1841 Sampson Uren, aged about 50, born in the county, mine agent, and wife Mary Uren, aged about 50, born in the county, were living in Laity, Redruth, Cornwall. With them were children: Jane (14), Sampson (13), Thomas (10), Mary (8), Eliza (6), [mother] Mary Uren (85), and Benjamin Uren (30), mine apprentice.
In 1851 Sampson Uren, aged 60, born in Wendron Cornwall, agent of copper mine, and wife Mary, aged 58, born in Wendron, were living in Old Work House, Redruth. With them were children (born in Wendron): Thomas (20), copper miner, Mary (18), school mistress, Eliza (16), dressmaker, grandson Fortescue Uren (13) of Wendron, tin dresser.
