In 1901 John T. Vivian, aged 24, born in Stokeclimsland Cornwall*, plasterer, was with his parents at 30 Shaftsbury Cottages, Charles, Plymouth, Devon.

John was born and christened in Plymouth, though most of his elder siblings were born in Stoke Climsland.

In 1911 John Vivian, aged 33, born in Plymouth, plasterer, and wife of 5 years Alice Vivian, aged 27, born in Plymouth (mother of 3 children), were living at 2 Ham Lane, Plymouth. With them were children (born in Plymouth) Gladys (5), Jack (3) and Dorothy (1).

In 1921 John Vivian, aged 42 years 8 months, born in Plymouth, bookmaker's agent, and wife Alice Vivian, aged 37 years 7 months, born in Plymouth, were living at 2 Ham Cottages, Plymouth. With them were children Gladys (14y 9m), John (13y 6m) and Dorothy (11y 6m).
