With him were sister Eliza Ann Vivian (50) of Launceston, housekeeper, aunt Agnes Cook (75) of Sandford-Courtenay Devon, visitor, brother Albert Vivian (57) of Launceston, widow, nephew Ernest Vivian (20) of Plymouth Devon.

In 1901 Joseph Vivian, aged 57, born in Launceston, single, market garden, was in Bere Ferrers, Devon. With him were brother's wife Eliza Ann Vivian (58) of Launceston*, married, brother Silas Vivian (62) of Launceston, gardener, married, nieces Ellen Vivian (8) and Alma Vivian (5) of Bere Ferrers, brother Albert Vivian (66) of Launceston, general labourer, widowed.

* This is an error. Eliza Ann of Launceston was Joseph's sister, not sister-in-law. Silas who married in 1892, did not marry an Eliza Ann.

In 1911 Joseph Vivian, aged 68, born in St. Leonards Launceston, single, market gardener, was in Bere Ferres, Devon. With him were sister Eliza Vivian (70), single, and brother A. Vivian (76), single.

In 1921 Joseph Vivian, aged 77 years 2 months, born in Launceston, married*, retired, was in Lillipit Cottages, Milton Combe near Yelverton, Devon. With him was sister Eliza Ann Vivian (78 or 79) of Launceston, married*, house duties.

* Neither Joseph nor his sister Eliza Ann married. Moreover, it states in this census that Eliza was Joseph's sister.
