In 1881 Ann Semmens, aged 26, born in Perranuthnoe Cornwall, farmer's wife, and husband William Semmens, aged 30, born in Perranuthnoe, farmer of 58 acres, were living in Church Town, Perranuthnoe. Present were children Lilly (6) of Luzerne, North America, Mabel (5) and Alice Beatrice (3), both of Kenwyn. Present also was father-in-law* Richard Semmens (55) of Perranuthnoe, farmer, and mother Eliza (63) of Gwinear, married*

* Richard Semmens was not William's "father-in-law" in the usual sense of being his wife's father; Eliza of Gwinear, William's mother, was widowed in the 1861 Census, age 42, at which time William (11) and his sister Elizabeth (9) were at home.

In 1891 Annie Simmons, aged 36, born in St. Clements Cornwall, and husband William Simmons, aged 41, born in St. Clements [sic], were living in Governs, Kenwyn, Cornwall. With them were children Lilly (17) of Pennsylvania, USA, school teacher, Mabel (16) of Kenwyn, Alice Beatrice (13) of Kenwyn, Eliza Katie (4) of Kenwyn, scholar.

In 1901 Annie Simmons, aged 46, born in Perranuthnoe, and husband William Simmons, aged 51, born in Perranuthnoe, farmer (own account), were living in Governs, Kenwyn. With them were daughters (born in Kenwyn): Mabel (25), Katie (14), Edith (6).

In 1911 Annie Simmons, aged 56, born in Perranuthnoe (mother of 6 children, 2 deceased), and husband William Simmons, aged 61, born in Perranuthnoe, farmer, were living in Governs, Kenwyn. With them was daughter Edith (16) of Governs Kenwyn, farmer's daughter.

In 1921 Annie Simmons, aged 66 years 10 months, born in Perranuthnoe, widow, domestic duties, was living in Gray Rock House, Chacewater, Cornwall. With her were son-in-law Edgar Raynold Tonkin (23y 11m) of Kenwyn, daughter Edith Tonkin (26y 9m), granddaughters (born in Chacewater) Joyce Annie Tonkin (2y 1m) and Milicent Tonkin (6m).

In the 1939 Register Annie Simmons (b. 18 Aug 1854), widow, incapacitated, was at 'Westleigh' Chacewater. At the same address were (daughter) Eliza K Truran (b. 5 Sep 1886), unpaid domestic duties, her husband James E M Truran (b. 17 May 1883), small holder, their children Kenneth M Truran (b. 27 May 1919), single, engineer's apprentice, and Phyllis M Truran (b. 12 Feb 1921), single, mother's help.
