In 1861 Jas. Wearne, aged 51, born in St. Ives, Mayor of the Borough, General Practitioner, and wife Philippa Wearne, aged 41, born in Gwinner Cornwall, were living in .Meneage St., Helston, Cornwall. With them were children (born in Helston) Walter (16), Philippa (18), Ernest (10), and Edwyn (6).

SUDDEN DEATH OF A HELSTON SURGEON.
Mr. James Wearne, surgeon, of Helston, died suddenly about midnight on Sunday. He was a senior surgeon of Helston Union, and held various appointments in mines and clubs of that district, and was most assiduous in his professional duties. Mr. Wearne had been a member of the Town Council for a long period, and had filled the office of chief magistrate of the borough. He was sixty years of age.
