In 1871 Martha Newton, aged 32, born in Bristol Gloucestershire, and husband Benjamin Newton, aged 36, born in Camborne Cornwall, warehouseman (cotton), were living in Wellington Terrace, Heaton Norris, Lancashire. With them were children (born in Heaton Norris) Vivian L. (3) and Maria I. (12 days?).
In 1881 Martha Newton, aged 42, born in Bristol, widow, interest of money, was living at Wellington Terrace, Heaton Norris. With her were daughters (born in Heaton Norris) Maria Isabel (11), scholar, Mary (9), scholar, and brother James Baker Williams (53) of Bristol, unmarried.
