In 1841 James Vivian, aged about 25, born in the county, blacksmith, was with his parents in Camborne Vear, Camborne, Cornwall.

In 1871 James Vivian, aged 53, born in Camborne, engineer, and wife Elisa J Vivian, aged 35, born in Camborne, were living in Falmouth Cornwall. With them were daughters Caroline (6) of Matekuala, Mexico, Kate (9) of Lacateeas, Mexico, and Jane (1) of Falmouth.

In 1881 James Vivian, aged 66, born in Camborne, retired engineer, and wife Eliza Jane Vivian, aged 44, born in Camborne, were living in Rose Hill Cottage, Mylor, Cornwall. Present were children Katie (19) of Mexico, Carrie (16) of Mexico, Maggie (11) of Falmouth, Ellen (8) of Falmouth, blind from birth, and Albert S. (11 months) of Mylor, blind from birth.
