"DEATH OF A WELL KNOWN PENZANCE RESIDENT.
MR. WILLIAM DAVEY, OF ILLOGAN.
Death has again been busy in our midst, and has removed a respected and well-known inhabitant of Penzance in the person of Mr. William Davey, of Tolver Road, Penzance. Mr. Davey was born at Bridge, Illogan Highway, sixty years ago, and his early days were spent about the old mill, where his father carried on the business of miller. Thirty years ago he came to Penzance, and about five years later instituted the carting trade for Mr. J. C. Wall, and when Messrs. R. and J. Lean took over the Great Western Railway carrying business he still remained the firm's respected manager.
Mr. Davey was a familiar figure in the town of his adoption, and about twelve month ago he developed anĉmia, and his friends observed with regret that the never robust figure was breaking up. Medical advice was obtained, and up to a fortnight from the day of his death he regularly attended to business. Less than three weeks ago he had a serious attack of influenza, which affected his heart, and sinking rapidly passed away at 2 o'clock on Friday morning.
Mr. Davey leaves a widow, four sons and one daughter, to whom every sympathy is extended. Deceased married a Miss Trevillion, daughter of Mr. Joseph Trevillion, of Reskadinnick, Camborne." 3
