"DAVENPORT - Helen Rae "Pete" Knight concluded her wonderful 86-year Earthly journey on Sunday November 13, 2005, reminding her children and grandchildren (who had assembled at her bedside to wish her Godspeed) that when they think of her (which will be often) to always "laugh, laugh, laugh." And so we will.
An eighteenth century poet said it best, and except for a few details as recorded here, there is hardly anything more meaningful to say: "To live in hearts we leave/is not to die."
Helen Rae was born in Rewey, Wisconsin, on March 20, 1919, the daughter of Charles and Redella (Jones) Eustice. After graduating from Rewey High, God directed her into a brief career as a secretary for an insurance company in Madison, Wisconsin, where she would meet a dashing young businessman and soon-to-be naval officer. She married Robert D. Knight on April 20, 1940, and they would be beautifully inseparable for the next 65 years...." 3
