In January 1905 Johnson P. Tom was present at the marriage of his daughter Eliza Jane Tom to Freddie Biddick in Padstow.
In 1911 Johnson Paynter Tom, aged 59, born in Padstow, farmer, and wife of 29 years Eliza Jane Tom, aged 48, born in Liskeard (mother of 2 children) were living in Dennis, Padstow. With them was daughter Dorothy (14) of Padstow.
In 1921 Johnson Paynter Tom, aged 69 years 4 months, born in Padstow, farmer, and wife Eliza Jane Garland Tom, aged 57 years 9 months, born in Liskeard, home duties, were living in Broxholme, Dennis Lane, Padstow. With them were daughters Dorothy Tom (24y 4m) of Padstow, single, home duties, Eliza Jane Biddick (37y 11m) of Padstow, widow, granddaughters Nora May Biddick (15y 6m) of Wadebridge, and Doris May Biddick (14y 1m) of Wadebridge.
In December 1927 Johnson Paynter Tom, farmer, was granted Administration of his late wife's personal estate.
In December 1928 Johnson Paynter Tom was present at the marriage of his daughter Dorothy Tom to George Reginald Sandry in Padstow.

DEATH OF MR. J. P. TOM
The funeral took place on Saturday of Mr. Johnson Paynter Tom, J.P., whose death occurred at his home on Thursday last after a short illness. Mr. Tom, who had reached the age of 85 years, was well known as a very able man of business, and his views were highly regarded by all who knew him well. After his retirement from business some years ago he was elected to the Urban Council and subsequently became chairman. He was a J.P. for the county and was well known on the Wadebridge Bench. Mr. Tom had also served as Clerk to the Parish Council for many years, and was also chairman of the Padstow Unionist Association. He was a great authority on agriculture.
The funeral service at the Parish Church and at the graveside was conducted by the Rev. W. Winstanley, of LIttle Petherick, St. Issey, assisted by Rev. Llewellyn Jones. Mourners were: Mrs. E. Biddick and Mrs. R. Sandry, daughter and son-in-law ; Mr. and Mrs. A. Grubb and Mrs. E. Buttress, granddaughter and grandson-in-law ; Mr. and Mrs. R. Hawkins, nephew and niece ; Messrs. W. Hawkins and E. Stone, brothers-in-law ; Mr. and Mrs. K. Olver, nephew and niece ; Mr. J. Hawkins and Mr. Olver, nephew and friend ; Mr. G. Sandry, Mr. and Mrs. W. Blake, the Misses S. and A. Paynter, Mrs. J. Binney, Mr. H. Trebilick and Mr. and Mrs. W. Holloway, cousins. Mesdames R. Sandry and W. Hawkins were unable to attend through ill-health....
