In 1851 Simon Lugg, aged 49, born in St. Martin Cornwall, unmarried, farmer of 28 acres (employing) two labourers, was living in Conno, St. Keverne Cornwall. With him was his widowed mother Ann Lugg (72) of Mawgan, annuitant.
In 1861 Simon Lugg, aged 59, born in St. Martin Cornwall, farmer of 15 acres employing one man partly, and wife Elizabeth, aged 42, born in St. Keverne Cornwall, were living in Church Town, Mawgan in Meneage Cornwall. With them were children (born in Mawgan) Mary (7), scholar, Elizabeth Ann (6), scholar, Grace Dale (4), scholar, and Emily (1).
In 1871 Simon Lugg, aged 69, born in Helston Cornwall, retired carpenter, and wife Betsy, aged 52, born in St. Keverne Cornwall, were living in Wendron St., Helston. With them were daughters Mary (17), dressmaker, Elizabeth A. (16), draper's assistant, Grace D. (14), scholar, Emily (11), scholar, Sarah (9), scholar, and Kate (7), scholar.

Mr Simon Lugg, of Mawgan, but who for many years has been a resident of Helston, died rather suddenly at his house in Cross-street, on Tuesday, the 28th April last, and his remains were interred in St. Michael's Churchyard, on Sunday last. Mr. Lugg was 80 years of age. He has been a great traveller in the colonies, and was a very learned man, an excellent arithmetician and theologian. He was greatly respected by a wide circle of people. The old man leaves a family of six daughters to mourn his loss. His funeral was largely attended.
