In 1841, Mary Smith (30) and children Lavinia (4), Will (2) and Richard (1) (the sons born outside the Census county), were with Mary's mother Tamson Prince (60), grocer, in Fore St., Camborne.

Husband James remarried to another Mary before the 1851 Census, in which James' children are referred to as her in-laws (i.e. in this instance, stepchildren). Cordelia, the youngest at this time, was born during the 1st quarter of 1850. There is anentry in the GROE Death Index for Mary Smith during the 2nd Quarter of 1850; however, the GROE Marriage Index lists two James Smiths (Redruth district), in 1844 and 1846 respectively.
