Obituary
"SCOTT Royal Lewis, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at home Wednesday, February 16, 2005. He was born in Weir, Kansas January 14, 1924 to Everet and Myrtle Knapp Scott. He was their only child. He lived there until about 6 years of age and went to Kindergarten there. Then he moved to Cherokee, Oklahoma with his mother and her parents. He went to school there and graduated with the class of 1943. World War II was on then and young men were being drafted. So ten days after he graduated, he was drafted into the Army Air Corps. He served in a number of places overseas including the Philippines. After the war was over he was discharged and came back to Cherokee. Later the Korean War began and he was called back into service in the 45th Division and was sent to Korea where the fighting was being done. He never forgot the cold winters there when living in an Army tent. He was also in Japan. He was proud to have served in both World War II and Korea. Later, after being discharged from the Army, he attended OSU and received a degree. He went to work at Tinker AFB in the Electronics field and worked there over 30 years retiring in January 1988. He married Mary Lois Thomas on May 16, 1959 in Oklahoma City. They had over 45 years together. He was a member of the First Free Methodist Church for many years and active in the church doing various things. He was a man who did so much to help out older people in the neighborhood for many years. He really had a mission of his own. In later years so many cats found their way to he and his wife's door he said that the front door must have a paw print on it. The cats also found a way into his heart. He loved them all and each one had a different personality. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lois. Also his brother-in-law and wife, Earl and Mildred Thomas of Yukon. Also four grown children and their families of his brother-in-law who are Tom and Cindy Wolfe, Earl Douglas and Joyce Thomas, James and Theresa Fry and Bobby and Millie Payne...." 3
