In 1841 Joseph Lugg, aged about 55, ag. lab., and wife Mary, aged about 50, both born in the county, were living in Church Town, Mawgan in Meneage Cornwall. With them were (children) Henry (25), tailor, and Grace (12).
In 1851 Joseph Lugg, aged 68, born in Ruan Major Cornwall, annuitant, and wife Mary, aged 60, born in Mawgan Cornwall, were living in Grange, Mawgan in Meneage. With them were daughter Grace Watters (22) of Mawgan, mariner's wife, grandchildren (born in Mawgan) James James (10), Mary James (8) and Jacob Lugg Watters (3 weeks).

Sudden Death.—On the 27th ult., Mr. Hichens held an inquest in the parish of Mawgan in Meaneage, on the body of Joseph Lugg, aged 78 years. The deceased, who was a labourer, was seen alive at his own house on the morning of the 25th in his usual health, being about, as he said, to go to his labour, but in the evening of that day, about 5 o'clock, he was found dead in the one of the parish roads, having as is believed fallen in going to or returning from his labour. Verdict, "Found Dead."
