In 1851, Matthew Smitheram (36) of Camborne, blind, was a copper miner, in receipt of alms, parish relief, widower, was living in Highway, Illogan. Present were children (born in Camborne): William (12), cart driver, Sarah (9), scholar, John (6), scholar, Emily (3), sister Susan Smitheram (24) of Camborne, housekeeper, niece Jane Smitheram (18) of Camborne, copper ore dresser, nephew Edwd.
