In 1841 Matthw. Smitham (25), copper miner, and wife Jane (20), were living in Fore St., Camborne. Present were sons Willm. (3), John (1). [Matthew's parents-in-law were living nextdoor.]
In 1851 Matthew Smitheram (36) of Camborne, blind, was a copper miner, in receipt of alms, parish relief, widower, was living in Highway, Illogan. Present were children (born in Camborne): William (12), cart driver, Sarah (9), scholar, John (6), scholar, Emily (3), sister Susan Smitheram (24) of Camborne, housekeeper, niece Jane Smitheram (18) of Camborne, copper ore dresser, nephew Edwd.
