"William, 82, of Lansing, MI passed away Thursday. He was born the son of Reginald and Mary (Paynter) Richards. William was a member of Central United Methodist Church since 1945 and was active in the choir since 1950. He graduated from Michigan State University and belonged to the MSU Alumni Association, MSU Rebounders Club and the Downtown Coaches Club. William also worked for MSU for over 30 years, retiring in 1993. He played in an over 70-softball league and several bowling leagues. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Norma Jean Richards; 2 daughters, Kelley J. Richards and Lynne M. Richards; and brother, Anthony W. Richards. He is survived by his wife, Karen Wallace; children, William B. Richards, Jr., Robert David Richards and Christopher Alan Richards; 10 stepchildren, Cathy (Jon) Sayer, Jerry Wallace, Chris Wallace, Kim Wallace, Duane Daugherty, Eldonna Daugherty, Patricia Chovance, Linda Rourke, Sharon Daugherty, Roland Smith; 23 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; and sister, Marian (Fred) Hodgson...."
