Obituary
"Mrs. L. R. Palamountain, widow of Mr. J. F. Palamountain, of Mount Gambier, died at Unley recently in her 86th year. Born in Cornwall, she came to Australia with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Temby, in 1864, taking three months on the journey. The Temby family settled in Adelaide, later going up to Windsor to live, where Mrs. Palamountain was married. A few years later Mr. and Mrs. Palamountain moved to Mount Gambier. In her long period as Mayoress of Mount Gambier, Mrs. Palamountain was highly esteemed, particularly during the early stages of the last war. She was a foundation member of the Town and Country Aid Society and the Red Cross. Mr. Palamountain died five years ago. The surviving children are John (Sydney), Mrs. E. S. Bartholomacus, Mrs. T. G. F. Smith, and Miss L. Palamountain, of Adelaide; Mrs. F. S. White, of Yacka; and Messrs. W. A. P. Palamountain, of Peake; and H. R. Palamountain, of Melbourne." 5
