Wendell Hardy "Tom" Perkins 84, Indianapolis, died July 12, 2007, at Waters of Greenbriar Nursing Home in Indianapolis, IN. He was born October 27, 1922 in Waverly, Iowa to John Perkins and Helen (nee Lenzkow) Perkins. He graduated from Iowa State University and served as a pilot in the US Navy in 1942-44 during WWII. He worked at Lutheran Mutual Life Insurance in Waverly after WWII. He moved to Indianapolis in 1955 to work with H. Duff Vilm Mortgage Company. In 1957 he opened Carriage Estates Real Estate, and in 1967 Tom Perkins Gallery of Homes with offices in Carmel, Nora, Castleton, and Southside. He was a member of local, state, and national real estate boards and served on numerous committees. Governor Bowen appointed him to the Indiana Real Estate Commission. Tom enjoyed fishing, hunting, bridge, flying, and Christian Business Men's bible study. He was a member of Castleview Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Donald, half-brother Alfred, and half-sister Grace. He is survived by son Thomas (Michele) Perkins of Indianapolis, IN daughter Terrel (Robert) Selke of Sault Ste Marie, MI, sister Dorothy (Richard) Anhalt of Waverly, IA, eight grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren..."
