DEATH AND FUNERAL OF THE LATE MR. CHARLES V. HARVEY.
It is with regret that we have to record the death of Mr. Charles Vivian Harvey, who died at his residence—Eny's Road—on Monday last (after a painful illness), at the camparatively early age of 47 years. Deceased left his native town for Mexico in the first instance, but the greater part of his life has been spent in South Africa, where he had been engaged as shift-boss in different mines. During his stay in Africa he had paid two or three short visits to his home, and a few years ago Mrs. Harvey with her daughter, Mabel, went to him. The daughter, however, unfortunately contracted an illness there, from which she never recovered, and the news of her death naturally was a great shock to them both, as also to her large circle of friends at home. Mrs. Harvey soon afterwards returned, as did also deceased. He, however, after a short stay, again went to Johannesburg and returned in the spring of last year, apparently in good health. It was soon discovered that his heart was seriously affected, and for the past three months he had been under medical treatment. His cheerful and kind disposition won for him a large number of friends both in Africa and at home, and his lost will be regretted by one and all. Deceased leaves a wife and a young daughter to mourn their loss ; also a brother (Mr. W. H. V. Harvey) and two sisters.
The funeral took place at the Centenary Church on Thursday afternoon. The chief mourners included: Mrs. Harvey (widow), Mr. W. H. V. Harvey (brother), Miss E. Harvey (sister), Mr. Joseph Rickard, Mrs. Lugg (sister), Mr. Joseph Vivian, Mrs. F. Harvey, Messrs. J. H. and W. J. Lugg, Mr. J. F. Odgers (nephew), Mrs. E. Burgan, Mr. and Mrs. Dunstan, Mr. and Mrs. French (Penzance)....
