Oshman, Louis John
> WINDSOR - Louis John Oshman, age 80, died on Father's Day, Sunday, June 17, 2007, at Meriter Hospital in Madison. He was born on June 27, 1926, in Madison, the son of Louis and Leta (Graham) Oshman and grew up on the East Side of Madison. Lou attended Madison East High School, and worked various jobs before enlisting in the Air Force during World War II. He served stateside before being discharged in 1945. Lou was united in marriage to Gertrude McBurney on July 26, 1947, in the front yard of her parent's home, beside the Muscallounge Creek in Grant County. They lived in Madison while Lou attended the UW-Madison, graduating with a degree in economics in 1951. Lou worked for an insurance company, owned a grocery store on the Near East Side, and worked in sales at Kayser Ford and Hamilton Supply. Upon retirement he worked a variety of part time jobs. Lou was a skilled craftsman and built their first home and several others in Madison before moving to Windsor in 1965 where he resided until shortly before his death. Lou loved being out in nature, whether he was skiing, hunting, fishing or helping out on Gert's parent's farm in Grant County. He passed this love of nature on to his children. When he wasn't helping his kids with projects, he was up north at the beloved cabin with his son John, in Canada waiting for a walleye to take his bait or anxiously awaiting the next deer gun season. Survivors include his wife, Gertrude Oshman of Windsor; a daughter, Susan (Tamara) of Madison; a son, John; grandsons, Lucas and Riley and their mother Karen, all of Windsor; sisters, Kathryn Houghton of Madison, and Dorothea Cramer of Waunakee; brother, Frederick Yarwood of Columbus; brothers-in-law, Ed Dvorak and Jim Harris; sister-in-law, Margaret Pafford; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Louis was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Florence Dvorak; brothers-in-law, Harry Houghton, Myron Cramer and Jim Pafford; sisters-in-law, Grace Yarwood and Barbara Harris; Gert's parents, Harold and Rowena McBurney; and his beloved dog, Opal.

Louis married Gertrude P. McBURNEY of Windsor, daughter of Harold John McBURNEY and Rowena P., on 26 Jul 1947 in Muscallounge Creek, Grant Co., WI, USA. (Gertrude P. McBURNEY of Windsor was born in 1926 in Wisconsin, USA.)
