Prideaux, Stanley E. > MADISON - Stanley E. Prideaux, age 86, passed away peacefully at the Don & Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, following a brief illness. He was born on Sept. 29, 1918, in Madison, the son of Albert and Jessie (Kaster) Prideaux. He graduated from Madison East High School in 1936, and attended Platteville Teachers College. He served with the U.S. Navy, LSM Amphibious Force, 1944-1946. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post No. 7591. Stan married Vivian Berg in 1947. He was employed by the Gisholt Machine Company for more than 30 years until the plant closing in 1971. He then worked for University of Wisconsin Housing Department as a supervisor until his retirement in 1983. Stan was a member of the United Steel Workers Union 1404, holding several union positions including president. He was a member of the United Steel Workers International Wage Policy Committee of Pittsburg, Pa., president of Dane County CIO Council, a member of the Wisconsin State CIO Executive Board, vice-president of the Madison Federation of Labor and past chairman of the Dane County Democratic Party. He served on the Madison Police and Fire Commission, on the Madison City Council (17th ward) and on the Dane County Board of Supervisors (17th ward). Stan was a member of the Madison Masonic Lodge No. 5, a life member of the Madison Consistory, a member of the Zor Shrine since 1957, a life member of the Zor Nomads and Zor Arab Patrol and Trinity Lutheran Church. He is survived by his children, Lynn (Kenneth) Kamp of Madison, Terry (Karen) Prideaux of Pine Bluff, Ariz., and Nicole (Roger) Scherer of Naperville, Ill.; a son-in-law, Chuck Busby of Madison; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a daughter, Julie Busby; a brother, George; and sisters, Viola Rowe and Neva Morrell.....
