William CRASE

   Another name for William was William CRAZE.

   Research Notes:

There are two individuals by the name of William Craze in the 1851 Census in Camborne; one is shown as age 52, born in Camborne, married to Grace, also born in Camborne; the other William is shown as age 53, born in Camborne, and married to Elizabeth born in Illogan.

Regarding the first, William Craze married Grace Whennon in Camborne in 1826. His age in the 1851 Census points to a birth year of c. 1799, indicating that he wasn't born in Camborne but in Illogan, son of Henry Craze and Jane. This is backed up by the fact that, in the marriage record, he is called a sojourner. Six children were christened between 1829 and 1837. Three of these were named Jane.

Regarding the second, William Craze married Elizabeth Harris in Illogan in 1821. His age in the 1851 Census indicates a birth year of c.1798. Five children were christened between 1822 and 1835, the eldest named Thomas, and the youngest Grace.

The evidence as it is points to William Craze son of Thomas and Grace having married Elizabeth Harris.

In 1851, William Craze (53) of Camborne, tin miner, and wife Elizabeth (49) of Illogan, were living in Carn Entral, Camborne. Present were children (all born in Illogan except James): John (19), miner, James (12) of Camborne, Charles (7), scholar, Grace (10), miner's daughter

In 1861, William Craze (66) [sic] of Camborne, was tin miner, and wife Elizth (62) [sic] of Camborne [sic], were living in Bray Valley, Camborne. Present was son Chas. (17) of Ludgvan [sic], copper miner

William Craze died either 2nd QTR 1862, 3rd QTR 1862 or 3rd QTR 1865.

   Marriage Information:

William married Elizabeth White HARRIS, daughter of John HARRIS and Elizabeth WHITE, on 3 Sep 1821 in Illogan, Cornwall. (Elizabeth White HARRIS was born in 1802 in Illogan, Cornwall, christened on 18 Jul 1802 in Illogan, Cornwall and died between Oct 1880 and Dec 1880 in Redruth District, Cornwall.)
