Death Of Former Union Secretary
Mr. Mark Smith Bennett, of Anzac Highway, Grovene, who died in his 84th year yesterday morning, was the first secretary of the Breadcarters' Union, and be held office continuously until 1936. Mr. Bennett was a life member of the Breadcarters' Industrial Federation and of the Labor Day Celebrations Committee. Mr. Bennett was one of the founders of the Breadcarters' Industrial Federation of Australia, and a delegate to the ALP for more than 20 years. His wife died seven months ago. He has left two sons and three daughters.
